Roughneck oil drillers are enlisted to stop a meteor headed for Earth.
When NASA's executive director, Dan Truman, realizes the Earth has 18 days before it's obliterated by a meteor the size of Texas, he has only one option – enlist the help of roughneck oil driller Harry Stamper and his misfit band of drillers and geologists. Soon Harry and his crew are launched into space. Their mission – drop a nuclear warhead into the meteor's core before it annihilates Earth.
